Happy Birthday Derek!

This Saturday my love turned 29! It was such a fun weekend! First, on Friday night I had a whole hotel room planned for him which was a surprise. I had been working on it for about 3 weeks, and he never knew until the moment we got up to the room at the Hilton Garden Inn. I must say that it was quite an ordeal keeping it a secret from him all that time, especially after my mom accidentally slipped the info about how excited she was to have a "slumber party" with Hudson on Friday night... since she was going to watch him while we were away for the night. I just told Derek that I was planning for my parents to take him for the night so we could have some quality alone time to relax together at the house... after that was over, he almost caught me several other times on Friday during the day, when he noticed our toothbrushes were both missing from the bathroom droor, (I had packed them up for the night at the room). He also came home from work WAY earlier than expected that day, and I barely got the suitcases out to the car before he pulled up, then I had to make up the story that my Mom and I were going to lunch, and insisted on taking the Mustang instead of the Hummer, because all of the luggage was already in there... of course he didn't understand why I would rather take the Mustang instead of my car, but I told him it was because I was going to wash and vacuum it while out and about! haha... it was soooo hard keeping a straight face and telling him all of my lame excuses for the strange things I was doing. Once I left to bring all our stuff to the hotel, I stopped by Albertsons to pick up some roses to decorate the room with, and my picked up my mom so she could come help me! We made it sooo cute. I put sparkling cider and champagne glasses on a little silver trey sitting on the bed, along with rose petals everywhere, vanilla candles everywhere, and chocolates and other fun treats for the night.
So FINALLY later on that night my parents came over to watch Hudson for our "date night" and we got out the door and made out way to Bardenays for dinner. When we got there, of course it had to be a crowded night, and Derek didn't understand why I kept insisting to stay and wait for a parking spot... the reason I wanted to eat there is because its right next to the Hilton, and I was planning on just walking up to the room right after we ate so Derek would have no suspicions. Also while we were eating dinner, I made up the excuse that I had diareah so I could run up to the room and light all the candles right before we went up.hahaaha.. It took about 8 minutes to run there and get back to the table... at this point my stress level was much lower knowing that the surprise couldn't get ruined at all any more. We walked over to the Hilton after our delicious dinner, and I whipped out the room key and was like "SUPRISE!" ... He was sooo suprised, it was a very nice night :-)

So we had lots of fun on Saturday also. Tucanos for lunch with the fam. Then we all went to Derek's parents house and watched the BSU game and the UFC fights. There were lots of friends and family there to celebrate with us and it was such a fun night. I hope you had a wonderful weekend too baby and Hudson and I are so grateful for you everyday! 5 months old... 2 days ago

On the 21st of this month, Hudson turned 5 months old! In my last post I already talked about all of his new things he had been doing recently. We weighed him on a home scale a few days ago, and it said he was about 16 lbs. I'm not sure that its an accurate measurement, but its got to be pretty close! So I think he's really growing well now that I have added the formula supplement, as well as breastmilk, he looks quite a bit chunkier too! I noticed just this morning that his little thighs are getting more rolls .. soooo precious.
Basically he's not the tiny newborn he used to be, and as bittersweet as it is, I think that I'm finally getting used to the fact that I can't stop him from growing up, and Derek and I are just trying to soak up every moment, new smile, laugh, and every growing phase he goes through. I feel like if I simply blink that he is doing something new and I miss something! But that's the beauty of pictures and videos. Here are some cute pics from this past weekend, and past week. The "wonder weeks"

Hudson my sweet baby has made sooooo many new developments just within the past 8 days! I love watching you grow and develop day by day, and month to month. New things he just started :

* Laughing out loud, not only the deep breath while smiling, but an irresistible gut laugh. Especially while we are playing "Pattie Cake"

* Holding his toys in hand and putting them up to his mouth to suck on

* Spotting mommy and daddy from across the room and "talking" to us LOUDLY :-)

* Blowing drool bubbles and humming

* mimicking tones and sounds we make to him

* Holding his head up for much longer while on his tummy

* Expressing the emotion of fear, whenever loud sudden noises happen, he bursts into scared tears.

* Loves everyone who loves and holds him, and is FULL of sweet smiles every day!.. probably the most smily baby Ive ever been around

Any way, the reason I called it Wonder weeks is because the "babywise theory' is that weeks 19, 28 and 48 of baby's life is supposedly a great leap of growth physically and mentally, so they are discovering more and becoming more alert of things around them during those specific times. Along with the growth spurt, it also comes with less ability to stay on a nap schedule or sleep through the night with no sleep disruptions!... A bummer for us at night time. But its worth it to see him growing and developing so much!

Fun!

This past weekend on Saturday, Derek and I decided to go to Target and look at baby stuff while we were bored, so we tried out some new toys for Hudson while we were there, and he LOVED the safari jumper that we put him in, so we ended up buying it for him can I just say that he LOVES it! Such a great investment that was because Im sure he will end up loving that for a long time. I just can't believe that my baby is old/ strong enough to use something like this already! And mommy can't believe how entertaining it is to watch him in it either, super cute :)

A bead party, and Birthday party !

Last night Derek and my dad agreed to watch Hudsy for me while my mom and I went to a bead party!... It was a friend of our friend Melissa Biorn, who lives in Middleton. Her name is Jessica Sessions, and she has these fun watch-making parties at her house. So anyway, after eating at this new Mexican restaurant in Star we got to the party and made these...

So I had fun last night, and also tonight since we went to dinner with my fam for PF changs. My favorite Chinese restaurant EVER! My Dad got my mom an ipad, so Im a little jealous, those things are awesome! And we had a great time stuffing our faces with delicious food all night, and Hudson was laughing and being so chatty and sweet the whole time, perfect start to a great weekend!
